OUTLOOK FOR 2025
Hello Everyone and I hope you are all excited for 2025!
I wanted to write down some (many) thoughts and training plans that I have for 2025. For the official training calendar with the topics can be found on the website at https://www.missouridefenseforce.com/upcoming-training.html. Due to circumstances out of my control such as family weddings and other things, I will post the dates as soon as I know that I can commit to them.
There has been a recommendation for 2025 that First and Second Squad create a fund for the purpose of sending an individual(s) to a class and then that individual bring back his/her newly acquired information and teach the rest of us. This will require some planning but I think it is a great idea that will be super beneficial to the group. Some of the things I foresee that need to be discussed (I am putting a deadline of January 14th for your thought to be sent to me to compile) :
Finally, I would like to share the goals that the CO and I have for First Squad (and Second):
The CO’s main goal for 2025 is for fire teams to have as many capabilities as is reasonable and thereby have the designated team roles filled.
With that said, my Goals for First Squad coincided with the CO’s goals before he mentioned his. My goals include:
I want to thank each and everyone of you for your patience with me! I am by far not the best for this role. I also want to thank everyone for their dedication. Without you this would not be possible. I look forward to hearing your thoughts for the Training Fund!

I wanted to write down some (many) thoughts and training plans that I have for 2025. For the official training calendar with the topics can be found on the website at https://www.missouridefenseforce.com/upcoming-training.html.
- How much should the contribution be? I am thinking that $50 will get a person to a class this year with probably a bit leftover. If we wanted to send two people to the same class or a different one then I think the individual contribution would need to be $100. This wouldn’t have to be contributed immediately (maybe after taxes come back or we pick a later date).
- I think that before we start the fund (let’s call it the “Training Fund”), we should agree on what class the fund would be paying. I believe that Mark already has a wealth of shooting knowledge that we can tap into to really improve us. Most of you haven’t met him, but Jeremy from the Springfield area has a tremendous amount of medical knowledge and experience we can draw from. We also have Desirae who has medical experience/knowledge that we can draw from. To throw my 2 cents, I would be thinking a radio/communications course or maybe a small team unit course… I want to hear everyone’s thoughts and recommendations.
- The final thing that we would need to discuss would be what the monies from the Training Fund could be used for. Only tuition? Special gear needed for the class that would then be shared? Gas monies?
Finally, I would like to share the goals that the CO and I have for First Squad (and Second):
The CO’s main goal for 2025 is for fire teams to have as many capabilities as is reasonable and thereby have the designated team roles filled.
With that said, my Goals for First Squad coincided with the CO’s goals before he mentioned his. My goals include:
- To build out the team structure (more to come on this).
- To have 2 fire teams with the roles filled by the end of 2025
- Create a load out “standard”. Everyone has their style and placement of things and I don’t want to disrupt. This will be very minimal. More along the lines of IFAK placement and coordinating “shared” fire team items and kit “minimums”. More to come along the way.
- Every training event that I host I will be creating scenarios where every role in the team will be utilized.
- I would like to see slightly heavier packs carried in training to keep things more realistic. As people are able, I would like to see the packs containing more closer to a 24 hour load out. To achieve this will be a process, I just want to start the process!
I want to thank each and everyone of you for your patience with me! I am by far not the best for this role. I also want to thank everyone for their dedication. Without you this would not be possible. I look forward to hearing your thoughts for the Training Fund!
